DAY 01

ARRIVE DELHI

On arrival in Delhi, you will be met by Splendour Holidays representative. Transfer to the hotel for checkin.

Delhi - The capital city of modern India has a rich historical past which also makes it the cultural capital of India. Nowhere has the tradition blended with modernity on a scale that is evident in Delhi. An amalgamation of the modern and the old-world charm, the city is dotted with age-old monuments that stand along side ultra modern hi-rise buildings. Delhi has been the seat of power for centuries.  Today, the old and the new city combine to present a harmonious whole offering to the traveler - elegant shops, broad avenues, sun-warmed elegant forts, mosques that were once stronghold of Mughal powers and the city's delightful vibrant bazaars.

Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 02

DELHI

Buffet breakfast at the hotel followed by a guided tour of the city. Delhi is a bustling metropolis. It is in fact two distinct cities, where the colourful bazaars and Mughal architecture of Old Delhi contrast with the formal splendour of Lutyen’s New Delhi.

The tour of New Delhi starts with visit to the Qutab Minar, a 239ft sandstone tower, considered an Indo-Islamic architectural wonder of ancient India. The tower complex has a number of other important monuments including the Alai Darwaza gateway built in 1310 AD.

Also visit the Humanyun’s tomb, one of the most spectacular Mughal buildings. Humanyun’s tomb was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1993. Built by Haji Begum, the widow of the second Mughal Emperor Humanyun, the mausoleum is known to be the precursor of world famous Taj Mahal. Built with a cost of one and a half million rupees, the monument heralded the construction of garden-tombs on the Indian subcontinent.  Finally, wrap your New Delhi tour with a drive through Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate & other important government buildings.

The tour of Old Delhi takes you to the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Drive past the magnificent Red Fort - a red sandstone marvel built on the banks of River Yamuna by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Also drive past Raj Ghat, built as a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.

Special Carriage Ride

Take an interesting Rickshaw Ride through Old Delhi. This ride is a truly memorable experience. Stroll through the bustling markets and bazaars and feel the pulse of India's capital city. It is an exhilarating experience to visit the narrow by-lanes on a tri-cycle. The ride presents an infinite opportunities of taking candid photographs of the bustling market life.

Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 03

DELHI - AGRA (230 Kms/ 4 Hrs approx.)

After breakfast, we proceed to Agra. The Delhi-Agra drive takes approximately 4 hours. On arrival, check in at the hotel.

Enroute visit Sikandra (optional)

Sikandra is the mausoleum of Akbar. Akbar started construction of this beautiful monument himself . This structure has a perfect blending of Hindu, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist and Jain themes. Sikandra is named after Sikandar lodi, the Delhi ruler who was in power from 1488 AD to 1517 AD. Sikandra Fort is located in the western periphery of the city at a distance of about 10 kms from the city center.

After the visit,  continue the drive to Agra. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel.

Agra was the seat of the imperial Mughal court during the 16th and the 17th centuries, before the capital was shifted to Delhi. The city, strategically located on the banks of the Yamuna and along the Grand Trunk Road, flourished under the patronage of the emperors Akbar, Jahangir’s and Shah Jahan, attracting artisans from Persia and Central Asia, and also from other parts of India, who built luxurious forts, palaces and gardens.

Rest of the time at leisure.

Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 04

AGRA

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Agra.

Begin your day with a visit to the famous Taj Mahal on decorated Tonga’s (your decorated and personalized colorful horse carriages up to the Entrance gate of Taj Mahal). Soak in its sublime beauty at the first rays of the sun. Taj Mahal is an inimitable poem in white marble. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 16th century, the monument took 22 years to complete! It was built in the memory of Queen Mumtaz Mahal where her mortal remains were enshrined. Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the World.

Later visit the Agra Fort

Agra Fort - built by three Mughal Emperors starting from Akbar the Great in 1565 AD, Agra Fort is a design and construction masterpiece. Within the fort, there are a number of exquisite buildings including Moti Masjid, Jahangir's Palace, Khaas Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Diwane-i-Am, Diwane-i-Khas and Musamman Burj where Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal Emperor, died as a prisoner.

Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

On the way to Jaipur, visit Fatehpur Sikri  for 45 minutes. Fatehpur Sikri is a World Heritage sight. This exquisite city was built by Akbar the Great in 1569. The city, built in red standstone, has forts, palaces and mosques. The city was abandoned 14 years after its creation due to political reasons. Must see are - The Diwan-i-am - a vast courtyard in which the emperor gave daily public audience, the Diwan-i-khas - a large quadrangle which hosted all the major functions of the Palace, the Pachisi court - Emperors private living quarter. Some other important buildings of this complex are Jodha Bhai’s Palace, Mariam’s Palace, Birbal’s Palace, Hawa Mahal and Panch Mahal. Ranthambhore National Park lies at the junction of the Aravallis and the Vindhya. It is a unique example of natural and historical richness, standing out conspicuously in the vast, arid and denuded tract of eastern Rajasthan, barely 14 kilometers from Sawai Madhopur. Get in tune with the nature for a luxury holiday in the heart of the jungle. It has come to be known as "The land of the Tiger", where most of the documented footage of this majestic beast has been recorded.

On arrival, check in to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Its a five-storey facade, decked with no less than 593 finely screened windows and balconies, making the building seem far larger than it really is.

Finally, visit the 18th century Observatory, begun by Jai Singh. The most striking instrument in the observatory is the sundial with its 27m high gnomon. The shadow that it casts moves up to 4m an hour.
